May Tsao-Lim

Dr. May Tsao-Lim, Professor of Piano at Henderson State University in Arkansas, coordinates the group piano curriculum as well as teaches applied piano and piano pedagogy.

Prior to joining Henderson State University, Dr. Lim taught at Iowa State University and University College Sedaya International (Malaysia.) Besides college-level instruction, she enjoys teaching children of all ages. Her students have been winners of state competitions.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Lim has presented pedagogy workshops at state conferences, MTNA national conventions, universities across the country and in Malaysia. She is often invited to adjudicate piano festivals and competitions.

As an active chamber pianist, Dr. Lim often collaborates with guest artists and members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. She has performed at the ASO River Rhapsodies and Texas Symphony Orchestra’s chamber series. Among the major chamber repertoire included Brahms’ Trio Op.40 and Vaughan Williams’ Quintet in D Major, Tchaikovsky Piano Trio in A minor, Op.50 and Reinecke Trio in A Minor, Op.188.

Dr. Lim earned her B.M. in piano performance with highest honor 'Bronze Tablet' and two Master's degrees (Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma with Jane Magrath.
