Heather Thayer

Dr. Heather Thayer, Associate Professor of Music at Henderson State University, enjoys a career in numerous settings. As the founder of Arkadelphia Chamber Players, Dr. Thayer is passionate about chamber music and performs regularly with the HSU Wind Quintet and the HornPipe Duo. She has performed for Internanational Music Festivals, conferences, and solo recitals throughout the United States and abroad, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Panama.

She has held teaching positions at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Austin College, Ouachita Baptist University, and was a Teaching Assistant at The University of North Texas. In addition to instructing all levels of applied horn and violin, Dr. Thayer teaches lecture courses in aural skills and music theory. She has performed with several bands and orchestras, including the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, The Signature Symphony, and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband, Richard, and her dog, Rosie.
