McNair Scholars Program

The Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Scholars Program) assists low-income, first-generation college students and those from underrepresented groups in preparing for graduate education.

The Henderson State University McNair Scholars Program is federally funded and serves 25 undergraduates per program year. It champions scholarly excellence in academics and leadership by financially and academically supporting talented students who desire to achieve distinction in research and scholarship at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

McNair Program participants must be full-time undergraduates who meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must have a 3.0 (or better) GPA with at least 45 credit hours
  • Must be either first-generation and low-income OR from a group underrepresented in graduate education
  • Must have a strong desire to pursue a Masters and Doctorate

The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Program is a federally funded TRiO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Federal funds for this project for the 2019-2020 budget period totaled $253,033.


The McNair Scholars Program office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
