Tobacco, Alcohol, Drug Advertising

Campus advertising of alcohol, tobacco and unlawful drugs prohibited

Henderson State University is obligated by federal, state, and local law to maintain an educational and working environment that is free from the influence of unlawful drugs. Therefore, the unlawful manufacture, possession, use, dispensing, or distribution of drugs and alcohol on any property owned or maintained by the university or as a part of any university activity is strictly prohibited.

Under Arkansas law it is unlawful for any person under twenty-one years of age to purchase or have in his or her possession any intoxicating liquor, wine, or beer in any location. As a result, the majority of the university’s students that are present on campus are not legal consumers of alcohol.

Pursuant to Act 734 of 2009, smoking and tobacco use on any university campus is unlawful.

As a result, campus advertising of products and services related to alcohol, tobacco or unlawful drugs is prohibited. In addition, campus advertising that highlights the availability of alcohol at an event is prohibited. Alcohol or tobacco promotional activities including advertising shall not be associated with otherwise existing campus events, programs, or campus organizational functions on or off campus.
