Educational Opportunity Center

The mission of the Educational Opportunity Center at Henderson State University is to increase awareness of postsecondary educational opportunities available for south Arkansas’ low-income, first-generation, and/or educationally disadvantaged adult population who desire to pursue a postsecondary education. The Educational Opportunity Center assists 1,000 of these eligible adults residing in our 22 county target area in preparing for entry/reentry into postsecondary educational programs. We provide information and assistance in admission and financial aid procedures.

Adults 19 and over who are currently enrolled in a two-year program or those who have dropped out of high school or a two-year or four-year college are eligible for our services and are encouraged to call 1-866-856-8104 for an appointment. Our education specialists are waiting to assist you with all your educational and career needs. Priority is given to low income, first-generation students. Eligibility into Education Opportunity Center is based on grant funded guidelines by the U.S. Department of Education.

Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS)

Henderson’s Educational Opportunity Center has received a grant from the U.S. Government for the CCAMPIS program.

As a result, pell-eligible Henderson students who have children and reside in an 8-county region (Clark, Dallas, Garland, Hot Spring, Montgomery, Pike, Ouachita, and Nevada) will be selected each of the next four years to receive funding for child care at one of the childcare facilities that have agreed to partner with Henderson State’s EOC on the initiative.

If you are interested in applying for the CCAMPIS Program, please download, fill out, and email the completed form to mcwhorp@hsu.edu. Paper copies are available in the EOC office.
