Henderson named ‘Most Affordable College’ in Arkansas

Henderson State University has been named the “Most Affordable College” in Arkansas. The ranking was determined by GOBankingRates, which analyzed “colleges across a variety of factors, including in-state tuition and fees, as well as room and board.”

“Henderson has been very strategic and has not raised tuition during the last two academic years. We also offer a range of affordable housing and dining options for students,” Dr. TaLisha Givan, Chief Learning Officer, said. “We know from listening to our students that affordability is a top factor in whether a student can attend college and earn a degree. We are committed to providing students with access to innovative and vibrant degrees that lead to high demand careers.”

Approximately 95 percent of Henderson students receive grant or scholarship aid, and academic scholarships are available based on high school grade point average. Additional information is available at hsu.edu/getreddie or by contacting admissions@hsu.edu.

Additionally, Henderson Foundation offers scholarships and awarded $583,105 to Henderson students in 2023. Prospective and currently enrolled students can visit hsu.academicworks.com to apply for foundation scholarships by February 1, 2024.

“Students are the heart of Henderson. We will continue to explore new partnerships and opportunities to ensure that students receive an affordable, quality education that builds career pathways from school to work,” Givan said.

Henderson is well known for its teacher education programs, and nursing graduates have a 100 percent job employment rate upon graduation. Henderson offers the only four-year aviation degree program in Arkansas with professional pilot and aviation management tracks. Henderson’s business degree programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and the natural science degree with concentrations in biology, chemistry, and physics prepares students for advanced studies in medical, dental, veterinary, optometry, and pharmacy schools. The engineering and computer science curriculum offers rigorous studies in the applied sciences. A complete list of academic opportunities is available at hsu.edu/degrees.
