Homecoming court contestants announced

Homecoming activities at Henderson State University begin Oct. 14 when the student body begins voting for Henderson’s 2019 homecoming queen. Twenty-one students are nominated for the homecoming court.

The 10 finalists will be announced Oct. 17 during the annual homecoming pep rally and bonfire. The court will be introduced and the queen crowned during football pre-game festivities on Oct. 19 when the Reddies host East Central University.

The 2019 homecoming court candidates are:

Jaycee Coleman
Coleman is a senior psychology major from El Dorado, sponsored by Alpha Mu Gamma. She is a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, and has volunteered at the Clark County Humane Society and Reddie to Serve.

Karen Villeda
Villeda is a senior psychology major with a business administration minor. She is from DeQueen, and is sponsored by the League of Latinos. Villeda is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, the Psychology Club, and serves as the manager of the Reddie Media Group.

Sarah Franklin
Franklin is a junior elementary education major from Little Rock, and sponsored by Phi Lambda Chi. She is a member of Gamma Beta Phi, the All Greek Council, and serves as the assistant editor of the Star Yearbook.

Whitley Hayden Cross
Cross is a junior English major with a communications minor, and is from El Dorado. She is sponsored by Alpha Sigma Alpha, and is also a current member of Alpha Mu Gamma. Cross has also volunteered at the Special Olympics and Reddie to Serve.

Devin Koger
Koger is a senior human services major with a psychology minor, and is from Prescott. Devin is sponsored by Alpha Xi Delta, and has volunteered at Reddie to Serve, the Autism Walk, and Henderson Halloween.

Erika Emmons
Emmons is a senior accounting major from San Antonio, Texas, and is sponsored by the All Greek Council. She is currently a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and Beta Gamma Sigma.

Kamri McKee
McKee is a senior history major with a minor in museum studies. She is from Little Rock, and is sponsored by Kappa Kappa Psi. She is an active member of the Showband of Arkansas.

Oyshi Hossai
Hossain is a senior from Queens, New York. She is majoring in integrated studies with an emphasis in medicine, psychology, and sociology. Hossain is sponsored by the Theta Kappa chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha. She is currently the president of Alpha Phi Omega, and is Miss Black and Gold.

Kandis Price
Price is a senior elementary education major from Hot Springs, sponsored by Kappa Delta Pi. She is an active member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, Heart and Key, and the Reddie Pom Squad.

Leigha Lynch
Lynch is a sophomore mass media major with a minor in military science, and is from Benton. She is sponsored by the Reddie Media Group and the Oracle. Lynch is currently with the ROTC and National Guard, and is the secretary and director of academic success with Alpha Sigma Tau.

Mia Sheets
Sheets is a junior from Cabot, majoring in social sciences education. She is sponsored by Alpha Sigma Tau, and is a part of Gamma Beta Phi and the debate team.

Dominika Bielawski
Bielawski is from Little Rock, and is majoring in Pre-Med biology with a minor in biochemistry. She is sponsored by Sigma Tau Gamma, and is a member of the Biology club and Pre-Med club.

Peyton Bradshaw
Bradshaw is a junior digital arts and design major from Gurdon. She is sponsored by the Legion of Nerds, where she will eventually take a leader position.

Jordan Lancaster
Lancaster is a sophomore health and physical education major from Bismarck. She is sponsored by the HPE club, and is active in intramural softball. Lancaster has volunteered at Reddie to Serve, and was an assistant coach for the peewee softball team in her hometown.

Sarah Reynolds
Reynolds is a sophomore elementary education major from Sheridan, and is sponsored by Kappa Sigma. She is currently a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, and has volunteered at the Special Olympics, Girls on the Run, and End the R word.

Sydney Stiener
Stiener is a sophomore from Conway, majoring in nursing with a minor in psychology. She is sponsored by the Reddie Diamond Dolls.

Megan Skartvedt
Skartvedt is a junior from Russellville, majoring in entrepreneurship, marketing, management, and accounting. She is sponsored by Alpha Kappa Psi, and is in Beta Gamma Sigma. She has been involved with the General Education Committee and has volunteered at Reddie to Serve.

Macey Green
Green is a senior health and physical education major from Malvern, and is sponsored by Reddie Ambassadors. She is currently the HPE club president, and has volunteered at Reddie to Serve. Green has also volunteered to assist the junior high cheerleading team in her hometown.

Chandler Simmons
Simmons is a junior elementary education major from Woodlawn. She is sponsored by the National Panhellenic Council, where she is currently the president. Simmons is also the vice president of Alpha Sigma Alpha, and has volunteered at the Special Olympics and Reddie to Serve.

Deranaqué Sturghill
Sturghill is a senior from Marion, majoring in human services with a minor in psychology. She is sponsored by the NPHC, and is a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Sturghill is also a part of the Black Student Association, and has volunteered at Reddie to Serve.

Madison Courtney
Courtney is a junior nursing major from Glen Rose, sponsored by Gamma Beta Phi. She is the current Nursing Class president, a Student Nurses Association member, and a JDRF volunteer.
