HSU Theatre to present 'Angel Street'

Henderson State University Theatre will present six performances of Patrick Hamilton’s suspense thriller, Angel Street, known to many by its British title, Gaslight. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, 15, 16, 18, 21 and 22, in the Arkansas Hall Studio Theatre.

A murder mystery set in Victorian-era London, Angel Street tells the story of Bella Manningham, a woman on the edge. Jack Manningham is a stern husband who’s a bit too friendly with the servants, and does everything to make Bella believe that her anxieties are all in her head. The situation for Bella becomes even more complicated when police Detective Rough comes by with an investigation into Mr. Manningham.

The cast of Angel Street includes Brandon Curtis of West Memphis, Abigail Harris of Little Rock, Adrian Hinojosa of Hot Springs, Camden Keech of Conway, Savannah Price of Bryant, Reece Ruhl of Paragould, and Emily Williams of Hot Springs.

The play is under the direction of Douglas Gilpin, professor of theatre, who has also designed scenery. Student designers include: Eric Cox of Texarkana, Texas, lighting; Trey Smith of Texarkana, Texas, sound; Taylor Embree of Bryant, costumes; and Emily Rollins Tabor of Letona, makeup and hair. Stage manager is Baleigh Almond of Hot Springs.

The HSU Theatre Box Office in Arkansas Hall will be open for advance ticket sales from 1-4 p.m. beginning Monday, Nov. 11. All seats are reserved. Admission is $10, or free with an HSU student ID, courtesy of the Student Activities Board.
