Gallery announces fall schedule

Henderson State University’s Russell Fine Arts Gallery has announced its schedule for the 2019 fall semester.

A Flight of Fancy / An Art of Whimsy - Aug. 27 - Sept.25

Presented by Ryan Bentzinger, John Lytle Wilson, and Aimee Wise, this exhibition brings together three regional artists whose work, though different in medium and format, entertains ideas, subjects and themes that are fantastical, otherworldly, and whimsical - but yet somehow still familiar. Curated by Dr. Kelsey Malone, this exhibition is hosted by Henderson and is sponsored in part by an HSU Margin of Excellence grant.

An opening reception will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 12-1 p.m. A gallery talk with Wise is scheduled for Sept. 24 from noon-1 p.m.

Hot off the Press II! - Oct. 1-24

This exhibit is a student printmaking invitational show that showcases the diverse printmaking techniques and talents of undergraduate students from throughout Arkansas. The exhibit is sponsored by the Arkansas Society of Printmakers, and is juried by renowned artist Ed Martin.

An opening reception and award presentation will be held Oct. 1 from 12-1 p.m.

BFA Studio & BSE Art Education 3rd Year Review - Oct. 28-31

This is a week-long exhibit featuring bodies of work from 3rd year students in the BFA studio and BSE Art Education Programs at Henderson.

Presentations will be Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 11-1 p.m.

Full Circle - Nov. 5 - Dec.4

Presented by Laura Tyagi, this exhibition features mixed media works by the Houston-based artist. A native Arkansan, Henderson graduate and former educator, Tyagi takes a conceptual and process driven approach to art making. Her work incorporates painting, printmaking, paper sculpture, origami, assemblage and installation, echoing her training and experience teaching elementary school art.

An opening reception and artist talk will be held Nov. 5 from 12-1 p.m.

The exhibits are free and open to the public. For more information, call 870-230-5036 or email keysk@hsu.edu.
