A grade of I = Incomplete is assigned by the instructor if the quality of work completed is satisfactory, but the student has been prevented by circumstances beyond their control from completing all requirements of the course. It is the instructor’s prerogative to judge the validity of these circumstances. An instructor will not award an “I” grade without first reaching agreement with the student as to the steps required to remove deficiency and an acceptable timeline for doing so. Grades of “I” not changed to A-F, CR or NC after one calendar year will be automatically rolled to a grade of “F” by the Registrar’s Office. Extensions to the one year period may be obtained with the approval of both the instructor and College Dean. The course instructor is encouraged to work with the student to complete the course within one additional semester if possible.
