Independent Study Project by Corey Howell (BA Innovative Media, 2021)
An immersive, interactive pop up video art exhibit built with analog video hardware. The exhibit, motivated by Corey's visit to the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York while attending the annual College Media Association convention, featured vintage cathode ray tube TVs and projections of analog video art acompanied by an audio soundscape. Corey took visual inspiration from Korean-American artist Nam June Paik's Fin de Siecle II video art wall and Kevin Beasley's A View of a Landscape installation, as well as multimedia works by the German band Kraftwerk, considered to be the pioneers of electronic music, for audio inspiration.
