Project collects written thoughts
Henderson State University’s Department of English, Foreign Languages and Philosophy will provide an opportunity for students and others to write their thoughts and concerns Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in the Garrison Center.
The event, entitled “Before I Die,” is part of a global art project that celebrates hope and love. It was started in New Orleans in 2011 by artist Candy Chang. The campus community and public is invited to write a brief comment in any language on a blackboard about what they hope to accomplish in life.
Dr. A. Margarita Peraza-Rugeley, assistant professor of Spanish, organized the event.
“It is a social experiment combined with an ongoing art installation that provides a place to share anonymously our natural concerns, as well as our hopes and love, in a written fashion and using the language that best suits us,” Peraza-Rugely said.
