HSU to host online art workshop for teens

Young artists can enhance their skills online this summer by attending Henderson State University’s Summer Intensive Studio Teen Workshop June 14-18.

The annual workshop is a week-long studio experience for students 13-18. Participants will engage in a variety of studio art activities culminating with an online exhibit.

“The program is an online workshop experience with the goal of immersing students in a variety of art practices,” said David Warren, professor of art at Henderson. “Each participant will engage in several studio art activities each day, including sculpture, painting, fiber arts, and mixed media.”

Students will work with visiting professional artists from across Arkansas who will provide instruction from their art studios.

“Barbara Cade of Hot Springs will teach students how to create two and three dimensional works with special dyed wool from New Zealand,” Warren said. “Alice Ayers will share her experiences in Africa and introduce participants to the art techniques of Zanzibar.

“These are just some of the unique opportunities students have during our online sessions,” Warren said.
