Henderson hosts fishing derby for AHDC clients
Henderson State University hosted its first Dr. Della Sue Simonson Fishing Derby for Arkadelphia Human Development Center clients April 20 at the Simonson Biological Field Station.
In addition to fishing, the clients had the opportunity to tour part of DeGray Lake in the field station’s pontoon boat. It was the first time that many of the clients had ridden in a boat. They also played games and enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers grilled on site.
Also participating were AHDC staff, representatives from the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, two professional fishing guides, 15 student volunteers, and other guests, including Col. Eugene Simonson.
