Job Description:  Beginning Fall 2018.  The Director of Choral Activities will take charge of a vibrant and visible choral program, which includes conducting the HSU Concert Choir (large university choir by selection) and University Chorale (small auditioned choral ensemble). Teaching duties include conducting,  advanced conducting,  and choral methods courses. Actively recruit for the program. Supervise student teacher interns. Oversee administrative duties of the choral program, including distribution of vocal scholarships. Other assignments possible based on expertise and department needs. Creative/scholarly activity, advising, and service contributions appropriate for a university faculty member.

Salary:  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience

Department: The Department of Music at Henderson State University consists of 16 full-time and 6 part-time faculty members.  The department offers the Bachelor of Music degree with tracks in Music Education and Performance, and the Bachelor of Arts in Music to approximately 110 music majors. This summer the department will host its first Sino-US Music Festival, and in Fall 2019 will welcome 20 new music students from Hebei Vocational Arts College, China as part of a new articulation agreement. The department primarily recruits students from Arkansas and northeast Texas and is a fully-accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
