Job Description:  The Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) Education Specialist is responsible for assisting the VUB Assistant Director with the Annual Performance Report, office management, general office record keeping, gathering of data and information, scheduling appointments and reservations, event planning, database management, financial record keeping, mass mail outs, newsletter production, maintenance of VUB websites and other office/project related duties. 

 Qualifications:  Henderson State University is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Affirmative Action Employer with a significant commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty, staff, and students.  In pursuit of this commitment, candidates will possess an Associate Degree, Bachelor degree preferred (preferably in counseling, social work, education, or related areas) and/or at least one year experience working with veterans and/or economically disadvantaged populations.  Candidate must have at least one year of experience in reconciling budgets, generating and preparing reports, both electronic and paper.  Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and Publisher.  Experience in electronic database management, recordkeeping, and bookkeeping.  The Assistant Education Specialist Coordinator must be open to and have the ability to work with faculty, staff, and community partners.

Salary:   Contract is for a federal grant position October 1, 2018 - August 31, 2019, for a salary dependent on qualifications and experience.  The Veterans Upward Bound grant is a federally funded program and is contingent upon new grant funding.
