Multi-Media Specialist/Coordinator

40 hours per week

CLASS SUMMARY

The Multimedia Specialist/Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and planning audiovisual activities and programs.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS

Recommends purchases of new equipment and digital artist aids and supplies and plans preventative maintenance and repair activities. Writes specifications for finished projects, including bid specifications for items to be produced.  Develops policies and procedures for new and existing digital and print services, researches technological developments relevant to digital and print needs, and recommends changes in services provided based upon needs assessment. Coordinates artistic aspects of end product, which may include graphic layout, design, illustration, publishing, and/or production.  Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

Knowledge of the instructional uses of digital and print aids and equipment.   Knowledge of the operation, adjustment, and maintenance of digital and print equipment and material.  Knowledge of the methods of digital photography, scanning and print.  Knowledge of art and print layout and design techniques.   Ability to create design and layout based upon request.   Ability to communicate well with customers.  Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures.   Ability to plan, train, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates.   Ability to develop policies, procedures, and plans based on anticipated needs.   Ability to estimate and prepare budget for future needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of specialized training in the field of digital art, large format printing, or the use of photographic and scanning equipment; plus one year of experience in the selected field.
