Assistant Professor of Elementary Music Education

 

Job Description:  Assistant Professor of Elementary Music Education.  10-month appointment.  The appointment will be tenure track if the appointee has an earned doctorate.  Duties include teaching elementary music methods courses, lower-level theory and literature courses, and general music.  Five years or more of public school teaching and familiarity with music and education technology preferred.  Additional responsibilities include participation in departmental and university committees and professional development.

Department: The Department of Music at Henderson State University consists of 16 full-time and 5 part-time faculty members.  The department offers the Bachelor of Music degree with tracks in Music Education and Performance, and the Bachelor of Arts in Music to approximately 110 music majors.  It is housed in the Russell Fine Arts Building and the newly annexed Bowen House.  The department primarily recruits students from Arkansas and northeast Texas, and is a fully-accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
