Instructor of Aviation/Chief Flight Instructor

POSITION:  Instructor of Aviation/Chief Flight Instructor. Position available June 2017.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Performs the chief flight instructor duties as outlined in federal aviation regulations for Henderson State University’s professional pilot program. Includes administering flight instruction staff, providing flight and ground instruction in flight lab and classroom settings, the advising of students, and other duties as assigned commensurate to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree required, a master’s degree is desirable. Applicants with bachelor’s degrees should possess relevant industry experience. If the successful applicant possesses a bachelor’s degree, the university may require, based upon the level of industry experience, that the applicant commit to complete a master’s degree within three years of the date of hire as a condition of employment.

Pilot requirements include: U.S. FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate, airplane category, with multi-engine and instrument rating; Certified Flight Instructor Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings; FAA 2nd class medical; minimum of 2,000 hours pilot in command. Must meet chief instructor qualifications as outlined in Title 14 CFR 141.35 and be able to perform duties as chief instructor. Previous experience as Part 141 flight instructor, check instructor, assistant instructor and/or chief instructor preferred.

SALARY:  Commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include university supplemented health insurance and TIAA–CREF.
