Assistant Professor of Innovative Media

Position:  Assistant Professor of Innovative Media, tenure-track. Henderson State University seeks applicant with education, professional and teaching experience in design for new media, UI and UX. Team building experience in media and technology-based media productions is also desired.

Description:  Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of courses emphasizing the development of concepts, techniques, and issues of communication design as they relate to interactive design, multimedia storytelling, media technology, data visualization, user interface, user experience, and game creation. The position requires excellence in teaching and advising, research and/or creative publication, and service to the University including committee assignments.

In pursuit of this commitment, the department seeks an individual strongly invested in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment. Candidates should have a terminal degree — (60 hours or above) Masters of Fine Arts, or a Ph.D. in graphic and media design, communication design, media design production, contemporary publication design, HCI, UI/UX Design, or related areas of study. A minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience, and 1-3 year of teaching experience in these fields is desired. An established record of UI/UX development and current professional accomplishment is desired.

• The ability to use and teach related technology such as design and prototyping software.
• The ability to create external industry partnerships to aid in the professional placement of the students for internships and entry-level positions.
• The ability to build student-based project-oriented teams to facilitate experiential learning.
• Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills.

Salary:  Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include university supplemented health insurance and TIAA–CREF.

The University:  Henderson is located in Arkadelphia, a charming community of 11,000 situated one hour south of Little Rock on Interstate 30.
