Educational Opportunity Center

The Mission of The Educational Opportunity Center at Henderson State University is to increase the awareness of postsecondary educational opportunities available south Arkansas’ low-income, potential first-generation, and/or educationally disadvantaged adult population that desire to pursue a postsecondary education and to assist 1,043 of these eligible adults residing in EOC’s 22 county target area in preparing for entry into postsecondary educational programs by providing information and assistance in admission and financial aid procedures.  Eligibility into EOC is based on grant funded guidelines by the U. S. Department of Education.

Adults 19 and over who are currently enrolled in a two-year program or those who have dropped out of high school or a two-year or four-year college are eligible for our services and are encouraged to call 1-866-856-8104 for an appointment or email us. Our education specialists are waiting to assist you with all your educational and career needs. Priority is given to low income, first-generation students.

Education Information

  • Serve as a clearinghouse for information on colleges/vocational schools.
  • Provide computer-generated data for over 3,000 colleges and universities.
  • Reference library of academic, career planning, and financial aid information.
  • Directories for community colleges, trade schools, and four-year institutions.
  • Provide transportation to area campuses for tours.

Career Counseling

  • Provide career planning and setting goals.

  • Administer career assessments.

Referrals

  • Serve as Resource to participants for referrals to other community agencies for services the EOC is unable to provide.
