Sport Management

This dynamic Recreation-Sport Management emphasis area is designed for students interested in pursuing careers related to sport management and administration, sport facility management and design, municipal sport and recreation programming and many other options within the sport industry.

The program emphasis combines foundational and theoretical models in sport and recreation management with real-world application. The Sport Management curriculum explores the historical and societal impacts of sport and focuses on industry fundamentals such as: leadership, sports law, facility management, finance, organization and administration, marketing, promotion, and commercial and entrepreneurial aspects.

The Sport Management degree is an intensive preparation program to prepare graduates to work in a variety of recreation and sport settings.  These include, but are not limited to:

  • Professional and semi-professional sports teams
  • Intercollegiate athletics
  • Sports businesses
  • Sports agencies/Sports Law
  • High School athletics
  • Sports/recreation camps
  • Community recreation centers
