First Year Experience

The First Year Experience (FYE) program helps freshmen students adjust to college life on the Henderson campus. It is open to freshmen residing in Smith and Newberry halls.

At FYE, you will be introduced to a wide range of student organizations, events, activities, majors and careers to help you discover and define your interests and abilities. You will also have the opportunity to develop both personal and professional skills while learning how to balance issues of personal freedom and responsibility.

A staff of eight FYE peer counselors will provide you with activities that enrich your experience at Henderson State University. The counselors will provide one-on-one feedback to improve your study skills, class attendance and involvement with the University. These counselors live in the residence halls for easy access.

FYE tutoring is free and available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday on the second floor of the Huie Library. Evening tutors are also available from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
